President's Message

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE FOR APRIL 2012

Welcome back to the Lyndhurst Elks. The last six months were very trying for them. They lost just about everything in the meeting area, the kitchen and the bar area. We also lost some club possessions due to Hurricane Irene, but nothing compared to the Elks.

At our recent swap meet they greeted us with open arms. They did not raise their rental fees at all and also gave us a small room, “above the waterline” to store some equipment. We as of now have tried to help them by donating four eight foot tables which they needed and always use. I feel that we have a great relationship with Elks.

One problem does exist. The room dividing door is no more, as of now. This makes it that much more important to keep background chatter to a minimum. When our speakers or officials are speaking, it is extremely rude to have other conversations competing.

On the other hand it is great to see how our members love getting together. This camaraderie makes for a great club. Still you need to converse during coffee break or outside.

Dr. Ted Colletti provided us with a very informative and comical program on ponds and tubbing. This month we have Karen Randall speaking, who is another plant expert..

April 15 is the date for our Spring Auction. Register early to get the best deal. All info is on the website. We need people for running, scribing, and registration, etc. Please make it your business to be there.

In closing, our annual show weekend is in the works for October, and believe it or not, plans are underway for our 60th year weekend in October of 2013.

See you at the April meeting,

Bob
